There's something about this song (Her Name is Alice by Shinedown) that I can't put my finger on.

It's beautiful, of course, but I don't think that's it. The lyrics are amazing, so purely in sync with the story we all know, but they're also dark, the way we all are. It's a song I wasn't aware how much I loved until very recently. I just randomly heard it one day, and then clicked repeat. And then again- and again, and again, and again. I couldn't stop listening to it.
This isn't necessarily unimaginable for me. I often find that certain songs are so indescribable that my life will halt, my whole focus shifting to learning every note, every word, every pause. Songs will entrap me for days, or-- occasionally-- even weeks.

But this song did something else entirely. I felt-- I'm feeling-- a connection that music has never done for me before. I'm not a huge music buff, and as simply a listener's stand point, the song isn't an amazing masterpiece. It's not an anthem or a beautiful hymn. It's just-- it's simply a song. It's a song that I can't get enough of.

This whole post was a little pointless, but I cannot accurately explain how I feel right now while listening to these words.

LYRICS:
I invite you to a world where there is no such thing as time
And every creature lends themself to change your state of mind
And the girl that chased the rabbit, drank the wine, and took the pill
Has locked herself in limbo to see how it truly feels
To stand outside your virtue; no one can ever hurt you
Or so they say--

Her name is Alice (Alice)
She crawls into the window
Through shapes and shadows
Alice (Alice)
And even though she is dreaming, she knows

Sometimes the curiosity can kill the soul but leave the pain
And every ounce of innocence is left inside her brain
And through the looking glass we see she's painfully returned
But now off with her head, I fear, is everyone's concern
You see there's no real ending
It's only the beginning
Come out and play

Her name is Alice (Alice)
She crawls into to the window
Through shapes and shadows
Alice (Alice)

And even though she is dreaming
She's unlocked the meaning for you

(Red knight. White knight. Marching into the fight. Drink me. Shrink me. Fill me to sink me.)

(Red knight. White knight. Marching into the fight. Drink me. Shrink me. Fill me to sink me.)

Shes unlocked the meaning for you.

(In contrary wise what it is it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be it would. You see?)
